Alma A. (Deterding) Wiltfang was born June 11, 1914 to Charles F. and Matilda (Kolling) Deterding in Lockwood, Missouri. Alma passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado at the age of 97. She enjoyed life and family throughout her long and active life. She married Henry Wiltfang at a very young age. They were married several months before they told anyone and were married for 64 years when he passed away in 1996.
She worked along side Henry when they started farming. She told about leaving the tractor running at lunch time because she could not start it again. they enjoyed going to dances and danced at their 60th wedding anniversary. They went to Germany several times to visit relatives. They spent winters in Tucson, Arizona. They had many friends that moved to Tucson from the Wray, Vernon area. While there they made many friends from all over North America.
She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, first St. Johns in Vernon where she lived most of her life. Then Calvary Luthern in Wray. She leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Wra;y, Colorado with Pastor Timothy Davis officiating. Interment was held in the Glendale Cemetery in Vernon, Colorado. Memorials may be made to the Vernon Community Center or the Vernon Fire Department. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
