Alfred Fredrick Schauer was born on March 14, 1931 to Fredrick and Mary (Knorr) Schauer. He passed away March 31, 2019 at the age of 88. He attended school in the St. Francis area, and obtained his GED later in life.
Alfred married Barbara Lohman in 1950 and had two children, Debbra Sue in 1953 and Michael David in 1958. Alfred and Barbara worked the Schauer farm in St. Francis until 1954, when they moved to Wray.
Alfred began working for the Wray Gazette and eventually purchased Schauer Printing. Barbara and Alfred were active in the Calvary Lutheran Church. Alfred enjoyed collecting, shaping and polishing rocks, as well as fishing and gardening. In his younger years, he also enjoyed bowling.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Mary Schauer, wife, Barbara; brothers, Herbert, Gus, and Lawrence; sisters, Pauline, and Ester.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbra and husband Rick; Son, Mike and wife Jerri; four grandchildren, Scott, Brianne, Abbey and Lucas; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Pauline and Gloria.
We will dearly miss you Alfred, an incredible man, husband, grandfather, and friend. May you and Barbara be reunited in eternal rest back together again at last and with the lord.
A Receiving of Family & Friends will be held at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home, 427 Adams Street, Wray, Colorado on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Timothy P. Davis. A Private Family Inurnment will be held in Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church, 518 Dexter Street, Wray, Colorado 80758. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado is in charge of arrangements.
