Alfred William Lamb was born on November 29, 1940 in Salem, Iowa to Dale and Katheryn (Bacon) Lamb. Alfred moved to Eckley, Colorado with his parents, older sister Alberta, and younger brother Ernest. Dale married Peggy Everest in 1945 and she was a beloved mother to Alfred and his siblings. He attended school in Eckley until the 5th grade. The family then moved to
Wray, Colorado where he attended school until the 121 grade.
November 1, 1964 he married Cynthia Baldwin. To this union two daughters, Deborah and Susan, were welcomed. The girls and their children were the light of his life.
Alfred worked for area farmers while attending school. After they married, he and Cindy lived in Yuma for 18 years where he worked as a mechanic then for the City of Yuma. After working for 13 years for the city and the girls were grown, Alfred and Cindy decided to move to California. They lived in Long Beach for 12 years where Alfred worked for the Long Beach Transit. He retired in 2000 and they moved back to Wray. Alfred then worked part time for the City of Wray in the Parks Department until his health forced him to retire for a third time. He restored many vehicles over the years, but really enjoyed working on his latest project, a 1953 Ford Sedan. He also kept busy fixing anything and everything he could get his hands on not only at home but also at his daughter's house. He was always very generous, the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back and help anyone.
Alfred loved to be outdoors and enjoyed the many fishing, hunting, and camping trips taken with family. After retiring, he and Cindy would often go on shopping trips to Sterling or out to eat with his sister and her husband. In the summertime you could find him at Baker 's Field rooting for his grandson that was playing baseball.
He loved talking to people about anything, he just enjoyed life.
Due to an accident in 2013, Alfred suffered from a traumatic brain injury. Unfortunately, he was no longer able to do many of the things that had kept him so active over the years. He really missed walking or zipping around town on his little red scooter and just getting out and about in general. He passed peacefully at home at the age of 74.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cindy; sister Alberta Gilliland (Darell); brothers-in-law Lee Baldwin and Glenn Baldwin (Debbie); daughters Deb Howe (Bill) and Susan Korchi (Hicham); grandchildren Rebecca Saltz, Terri Raines, Abigail McFadden (Kyle), Tyler Ernst, and Ali Hedri; great-grandchildren Carolyn Raines and Carter McFadden; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
